Your To-Do List

Once you receive your PCS, there are a few things you’ll need to take care of regarding your financed car. Here’s a checklist:

• Inform our dealership as well as your lender or lessor
• Provide your auto insurance company with your new address
• Obtain the right state and city or township registration for your new home
• Update your driver’s license

Most states allow for a grace period so that you can take care of the local logistics within the first few weeks or months of the move to your new station assignment.

How Your PCS Affects Your Honda Finance Package

Moving to a new state could affect you financially. If your new location has taxes different from those in Virginia, your monthly payments could increase or decrease. Your Honda lease may stipulate returning the vehicle to our dealership when the lease ends. However, depending on how far away you’re moving, we understand that might not be possible. What If You’re Deploying Overseas?

The SCRA stipulates that you can terminate your lease without penalty if deployed overseas for 180 days or more. Honda Financial Services or our finance department can help if you leased through us; if you leased through your bank or credit union, you’ll need to contact them. Loans can’t be terminated; here, you’d need to sell the vehicle privately or to a Honda dealership like ours.
