2026 Honda Prelude: What’s Changed?

December 4th, 2025 by

2026 Honda Prelude After a 25-year hiatus, the Honda Prelude is making its triumphant return. As expected, this sporty coupe has undergone several notable changes since we last saw it. In addition to a new, sleeker design, the 2026 Honda Prelude has evolved and improved in many other ways, and Casey Honda has the key differences.

Powertrain

Perhaps the most significant change with the Honda Prelude involves the powertrain. The older model was powered solely by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine. The 2026 Honda Prelude also has a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, but it adds two electric motors for hybrid performance and efficiency.

Transmission

One element of the Honda Prelude that always excited drivers was its available manual transmission. While the 2026 Honda Prelude doesn’t offer this, it has the next-best thing. It comes with paddle shifters, which augment the driving experience, along with Honda’s S+ drive mode that simulates gear shifts.

Technology

Automotive technology has come a long way in the last quarter-century, and the 2026 Honda Prelude has many components that the older car didn’t have. These include a digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system with a touchscreen. Wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® and wireless device charging are included, too.

Safety

Safety systems have also evolved substantially in the last couple of decades, and the new Honda Prelude comes with Honda Sensing®. This suite of features includes a Collision Mitigation Braking System™, Lane-Keeping Assist System™, and Rear Cross Traffic Monitor™.
